How to show pass/fail on resume

Hi,

I transferred this semester so I don't have GPA so far except the one I had in the previous institution. My school gave me an option to elect pass/fail for the semester which I will choose to do. The problem is, since I don't have GPA to show on my resume and only have Ps on my transcript, what should I fill out in the GPA section on my resume? It would be delusional to write 4.0 but it would also look weird to write PASS on my GPA section on my resume haha.

If write down PASS or the like, would it hurt my recruiting process?

Thanks!

RIght. I have a 4.0 from my previous institution so that would look good but I thought I was supposed to separate my GPAs from the old school to the one I transferred to. I am worried it would seem like a lie to write 4.0 as my new GPA.

Good point, did not know you had a 4.0 GPA from your previous institution. That makes it much more tricky...

Here is what I suggest:

Calculate each of your glasses on the letter scale, then match it with the 4.0 scale and then re-calculate a GPA that is accurate to what you would of got in the course. Use that new GPA and put it there without the need to mention pass/fail. On your transcript you can still keep it as P, but be sure to explain how you calculated and etc.

Since you had a 4.0 previously, then it's less likely they will find a problem with your self-grading, as long as it is accurate.

Thanks for the input! I have another option I want you to share your thoughts on. I can opt 2 out of 3 classes this semester (leave as P) and have a letter grade of one, which I will likely get A or A-. This way, I can legitimately write my GPA on my resume. One thing that concerns me is that since the GPA is based on only one course, it might be looked as inappropriate or something.

Collect a letter grade for the grades that you do have an A or A- is. For the P grades, calculate it for a GPA using what you would of gotten and then average it in. How bad were your P grades, if they were B+ then that's fine and just average it in the GPA.

For example: A, A, P = (B+), P = (B) = XX/4.00

If you have more than 12 credits that are graded and not pass/fail, then calculate a GPA of those 12 credits. But if you take only 2 classes for a grade, then follow above. Just my two cents

Just take A’s in courses you can and put a 4.0. Not a big deal at all and not a lie. If you get pressed just say the other profs had a terrible time transitioning to online and you decided to P/NP the course. Cheers to the 4.0.
