HR trying to limit my hours AFTER I signed the job contract
Upon learning how many hours I have been working after I signed a job contract that does not limit the number of hours I can work, a not-so-nice HR guy told my boss that I should be working only 40 hours per week. My boss is simply following what HR told him. According to my employment contract, I am receiving hourly rates for the number of hours I am working. If I work 40 hours per week, I would not be able to contribute fully because everyone else on my team would be working longer hours than I am. I am currently in a year-long investment banking analyst program and had I known that my hours would be capped, I would not have accepted this offer. Should I reach out to that guy in HR and explain this to him, while copying his boss on the email? Because after all, his boss, who is also in HR, was the one who sent me the original offer letter and interviewed me. Also, his boss previously worked in investment banking and seems like a nicer person than he is
If the 40 hour cap wasn’t mentioned in the offer letter I’d absolutely say something, that’s some BS
I brought it up to HR, mentioning that the 40 hour cap was not a part of the offer letter. But the HR guy responded rudely and pushed back against my argument. It does not seem like HR will budge at all. The HR guy cited some BS culture reason as why they are limiting my hours in addition to budgetary reasons. I told HR that I should have been notified of this before I joined the bank.
Are you an hourly employee and not salaried? What kind of bank makes you hourly? That doesn’t really make any sense given the amount of time you need to work to literally be a part of the team and get shit done. Is this a US bank?
I am an hourly employee. And I agree it does not make any sense whatsoever. This is a Spanish bank, but the position is located in New York.
Also, I am not eligible for bonus during this analyst program.
