Huron Consulting - Very Unprofessional Firm
WSO Community,
I just want to inform all of you about the lack of professionalism at Huron Consulting Group. I started my interview process in Oct. and got an offer in early Dec. but the firm went MIA and in Feb they yanked the offer without giving a reason.
1. I have 2 rounds of phone interviews in late October
2. I interview with the firm at HQ in person in late November
3. Early December HR made me a verbal offer, and said they would overnight a written offer letter
4. 3 days later I still did not receive a written offer
5. I called the HR contact and after 3 days and left a voicemails and sent an email but to no avail
6. I follow up with the HR contact in mid December, that person said they would send me the offer letter over the holidays and I most likely would start early in the new year
7. I still did not receive the offer letter by the end of December
8. The first week of January I email the person who was going to be my boss , that person say they will talk to the HR person to get in contact with me
9. After 2 weeks the HR contact still hasn’t emailed or called me. During that time I have tried reaching by send an email and calling
10. Now going on to mid January I email my hiring manager again…but the hiring manager person does not respond
11. Two days later I am contacted by a lower level HR contact at Huron, who asked me if I had received my offer letter, I hold that person that I had not. She informs me that the MD of the group I interviewed with “loved me” and that she was meeting with the MD the following week and would give me an update after the meeting. She always informs me that they may hire me for an analyst role even though I interviewed for an associate role.
12. The lower level HR person leaves me a voicemail saying that the original HR person who has been MIA will contact me that day. That HR person never calls me.
13. 3 days later I call the lower level HR person telling her that the original HR person never called me. She tells me to call the person back and to leave a voicemail.
14. I email the MD of the group and tell him about HR never calling back, and that I am excited to start ASAP
15. The original HR person finally calls me back, it is now over a month since the person has talked to me. The original HR person says they will not be making me an offer, but does not give a reason why. This whole process with Huron started in October and ended in February.
Libel?
How is this libel? He gave an account of what happened and as long as it's true there's nothing to worry about. FWIW, my college roommate worked for Huron and had a terrible experience.
Not the first person that I have heard this or similar from.
Brutal OP. Keep your head up and keep at it. Hopefully you will get to stick it to Huron one day.
These guys had a ton of financial problems a few years back. Looks like they have not gotten anything sorted. Hopefully, you can do better than these clowns.
What group was this for? Healthcare?
I have a friend that signed with them after Fall recruiting, but I'll admit I've heard negative stuff around the block. If I were you, I would post your feedback to Glassdoor as well. That tends to be the go-to for non-WSOers.
Don't sweat it -- much better you go somewhere that wants you and will pay you accordingly.
This. Sorry to hear this OP.
This happened to a guy i knew who got his offer through OCR. Wharton made the firm pay a portion of first year salary to those affected with the threat of not allowing them on campus again in the future.
That's actually a great point. OP, have you gone to your career services to ask them to intervene in the situation? I'd definitely do that, as you can probably make a case that Huron kept you from interviewing at other firms.
Thanks for the feedback. The group was higher education fyi.
sucks to hear this, but at the end of the day...huron is a small player and their offer rescission probably suggests that their pipeline is hurting and you'd be on the bench
take a look at navigant, they are nearly identical in nature...maybe they have openings
I know this is old, but I've had the same issues with these guys! Someone from HR contacted me via email and left a voicemail to set up a time to talk. I replied to the email and called them, but haven't heard back in over 2 weeks!
Should I try to reach out to another HR contact at the firm or wait and see if this guy gets back to me?
subbed
that's pretty messed up, can you take any action against them. anyone know of such precedent pertaining to OP's case?
A few people are asking about Huron so I thought I would "bump" this discussion back to life. This is my experience with the firm, take it with a grain of salt as it's a n=1.
where are you now anyway
