I have a friend who has been working with Benson & Assoc as sales broker for commercial properties. Is there any credibility to him saying he made 200k his second year doing it. I have not seen his lifestyle change so I am curious if this can actually be true.
Are you jeal?
Jealous? No, just wanted to see if this seems reasonable.
Commercial brokers have high income potential. Seems feasible to me if the guy is a hard worker, personable, and has relationships in his market.
Absolutely, brokerage is a tough business and has about an 80% attrition rate but those who can stick with it make six figures by their second or third year.
He either has fantastic family connections or is an extremely hard worker. But yes, its definitely possible.
It is possible, but I doubt it is true. Does he have previous real estate experience? Family connections in RE?
I would call his bluff.
Also, I'm going to take a wild guess and venture that he's a douchebag. Am I anywhere near the mark here?
The beauty of sales brokerage is all it takes is one/couple of good deals to make your year. Could he have made 200k in his second year in the business? Absolutely. The downside.... the next year he could make literally zip, zero, nothing, if he cant get another deal to push through. Thats the hard part as a young guy, keeping the pipeline full. Note what you asked.... he isnt "making 200k", he "made 200k". Its not guaranteed to reoccur.
But seriously..... who gives a shit either way.
Sure one or two lucky deals and you are on top of the world
Tis business is crazy like that
Very possible. Everyone on the team I intern for pulls in seven figures and they're all under 30. The 24 year old in our office made $185k this year.
I don't think "seven figures" means what you think it means.
Haha part of my job is documenting their closings. I understand it's extremely rare to make seven figures (i.e. $1M+) that young, but they're doing it. I happen to work for one of the best teams in the country at my firm at the moment. No reason to call someone out about something you know nothing about. Just letting OP know it's extremely possible to make that type of money that young in brokerage. Common? Definitely not.
Gross or net?
Remember, he has to pay around half to the house.
Yes.
