I have a friend who has been working with Benson & Assoc as sales broker for commercial properties. Is there any credibility to him saying he made 200k his second year doing it. I have not seen his lifestyle change so I am curious if this can actually be true.

The beauty of sales brokerage is all it takes is one/couple of good deals to make your year. Could he have made 200k in his second year in the business? Absolutely. The downside.... the next year he could make literally zip, zero, nothing, if he cant get another deal to push through. Thats the hard part as a young guy, keeping the pipeline full. Note what you asked.... he isnt "making 200k", he "made 200k". Its not guaranteed to reoccur.

But seriously..... who gives a shit either way.

BraveSock:

Very possible. Everyone on the team I intern for pulls in seven figures and they're all under 30. The 24 year old in our office made $185k this year.

I don't think "seven figures" means what you think it means.

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.

Haha part of my job is documenting their closings. I understand it's extremely rare to make seven figures (i.e. $1M+) that young, but they're doing it. I happen to work for one of the best teams in the country at my firm at the moment. No reason to call someone out about something you know nothing about. Just letting OP know it's extremely possible to make that type of money that young in brokerage. Common? Definitely not.
