IBD Summer Internship or IBD Off-Cycle Internship or both?

Hello everyone, I have been incredibly lucky this year and managed to secure two internship offers.

The summer internship is at a mid-tier BB and the off cycle is at a top MM or BB; I don't want to be too specific. They are both in a similar group within IBD.

I signed the offer for the summer internship earlier this year and only received the offer for the off cycle internship yesterday. I had only agreed to the interview because I thought the practice would be useful and had no expectations of securing the offer.

My concern is that to complete the off cycle internship, I would have to defer an academic year at university as it takes place in the spring. The two implications are that I would not be able to accept a return offer from the summer internship, that is, if I am fortunate enough to receive one and I would delay graduation for another year. On the positive side I would have taken part in two great internships and would have time to take a break and pursue some other interests in my deferred year.

I realise what a lucky position I am to be in, but I would appreciate some thoughts on the right move for long term career prospects or any considerations that I might have overlooked.

Thank you for your response.

Ideally I would prefer the off cycle internship but wouldn't want to jeopardize my chances of securing a graduate offer. I understand that with every decision there is a risk/reward element - do you think that going for the off cycle internship for the stronger brand would be an unnecessary risk considering the market conditions?

Whether the off-cycle internship is with a top BB or a top MM is relevant information. So too are your career goals and your impression of the people at each firm.
