Importance of leadership in IB?
I guess this is more directed towards the Associates, VP, MD's, so forth... anyone who has responsibility over someone else, though analysts are more than welcome to join in.
Do any of you ever have a sense of responsibility over your teams that's more akin to that of a leader than a manager? Do you ever feel that it is important to make sure that your team is performing well for both their own experiential betterment and for the firm?
I'd like to know what the professional expectation is between each increasing hierarchy in an IB. Do you ever feel that it is important to encourage those you hold responsibility over? How lenient are you with mistakes, especially from newcomers?
Sorry this may be vague.. I'm mostly curious to find out what sort of relationship exists between the IB hierarchy positions and to what extent it is that everyone is basically on their own.
What did you wish your associate/VP/MD/whatever did more for you? Would you be willing to do that for whoever you end up being responsible for?
Sorry if this may be vague. Feel free to share any thoughts, I hope I was able to be clear in what I was looking for.
