"Incoming SA" Doinkers

Pedantic offer gloating is back, and it's worse than ever. It's the quintessential boastful cuck who wants to do IB just "because it's IB" – the same kid who wears Ferrari regalia without actually owning the car. If I ran LinkedIn, I'd ban adding a "new experience" until you've actually started working there.

I am starting to see kids add "incoming 2021 IB SA" to their profile/headline even before they've even started their 2020 internship. To most people, this comes off as ineffably pathetic. I know exactly what it's like to get an early offer: you feel like you've vanquished all adversity from your life forever, your wildest hopes and dreams have come to fruition, arrived at the gates of Narnia, perpetual euphoria, yada yada ... I get it, but stop abusing LinkedIn as a facade of humility to indulge your boastfulness. Be thankful, put your head down, and keep learning and actively try to pursue things that interest you between now and next summer.

I write pejoratively because these kids are typically the same hardos who pursue banking for all of the wrong reasons and end up unhappy later on in life. A genuine interest in analyzing companies, a desire to understand the capital markets, a genuine passion for investing or deal execution – all viable. Prestige? I promise that if you try to legitimize this as a reason to dedicate your whole life to something, you will be woefully miserable.

Make LinkedIn great again. Stop embarrassing yourselves, and, more importantly, choose a career path based on something that actually interests you. Mamba out.

Not going to lie, this shit had me dying on the ground of laughter

I've genuinely never understood why this bothers people so much. Everyone is excited when they finally get the offer- especially non-target kids that dedicate almost every single fucking weekend for three years just to get ONE offer at a top firm. It is a great feat and they want to put it up on LinkedIn- no different than people writing that they get into HBS, getting a CFA/CPA, etc - in some ways its even more impressive considering the incredibly low probability of landing such an offer at Goldman, JP, MS, etc... (often quoted as harder to get into than Ivy League schools)

Let them be and do what they want.

I’d rather read through 300 Bright Network “internship” acceptance posts than this waste of server space again.

"Even thought I work at Buttfucknowhere Capital Partners at least I can virtue signal to strangers on the internet that I'm better than people who change their Linkedin headlines"

Richard, You aren't doing your job correctly. You aren't supposed to be getting any SBs from people. Please rewrite this post to elicit more appropriate reactions. Let's talk after this long weekend to go over your progress. A few things I wanted to flag for you to improve on.

Thx, Nefair

Will update my computer soon and leave Incognito so I will disappear forever. How did I achieve Neanderthal by trolling? Some people are after me so need to close account for safety.
