Industrial Owner/Developer Interview

Hey guys,

Haven't seen too much in regards to industrial owner/developer posts. Took an Excel test and they want me to come in to meet a few people on the team. This seems to be the final round, I'm assuming they'll go over the Excel portion but what else to expect? Seems to be an hour long with 2-3 people from the head of the company down. It's on Monday next week and I'm prepared to explain my answers in the test, know their deals/projects, know the founder and others backgrounds. Anything else? I'm assuming going over the answers/the more technical part will be with more junior people in acquisitions while the head of the company may have questions and be more fit based.

Thanks for the color, so its the head of acquisitions, the founder, and partner. What kind of fit questions can I expect from literally the two top people at the shop? It's a very lean firm of around 10 people. To me it seems they won't waste time with technicals (like you said) and will probably want more of my story/hear more about my experience in the industry. Anything you could think of that's more specific would be helpful - trying to look at it how they would hiring someone pretty new in the industry and what they want to see/hear.

I definitely wouldn't expect technicals from guys that senior. If you've already done the excel test and are coming back, they aren't worried about that.

I wouldn't stress the type of questions you can expect. At this stage in the process, they're genuinely just looking for someone whose personality is a fit for the team (and you should be looking for the same - are these people you are going to be okay reporting to, or will you hate it?). They'll probably hit you with the usual "tell us a bit about yourself? why real estate? why this company?" but other than that it'll probably just be asking about your resume, your personal background, interests, and getting to know you.

Try to be relaxed and yourself and you'll do fine.
