Informational Interview Advice
Hi, I'm currently sitting down and drafting questions for an upcoming zoom meeting with an associate. I've narrowed it down to 20 questions; 12 focused on the interviewee's experience and 8 for advice. Is this too many questions? Is the split okay? I know that these people are very busy, so I don't want to take up too much time, but I think all of the questions I have left are important enough to ask.
Jeez 20 questions!! If this is a 30 minute meeting there’s no way you’ll get to all your questions in time without sounding very rushed and robotic.
I would typically write up 6-8 questions, then let the conversation flow naturally from the first couple of intros/questions. The written up questions were more of a way to redirect conversation, for me.
Please don't ask 20 Questions. You should have 4-6 questions, and try to mold those questions into a conversation with the person rather than just interrogating them. Questions on advice can simply just be "Do you have any advice for someone in my position". Not entirely sure what your 20 questions entail but there will more than likely be repetition, so please cut it down, nobody wants to answer that many questions.
