Today, I got an internship with a real estate private equity firm after three interviews and no connections. I'm a freshman at a target, and it was paid, so I took it. I'm a bit worried now though, because my end-game is S&T, not real estate. Do you think having RE PE on my resume will negatively impact my chances of getting into trading?

No, you're miles ahead of many people who'll be working at summer camp or lifeguarding this summer. Plus if anyone ever asks, "why did you work at a REPE if you're interested in S&T" you'll easily be able to spin that into it was the best opportunity I had as a freshman....blah blah....learned a lot.
