Interview - HR Emails

Hi fellow Monkeys,

Quick question. Got through the first stage (CV/CL screening) for a small boutique with a sector focus and received an email saying that I have been selected for the first round of interviews. I needed to reply that I was still interested. After replying I had no response, hence did a quick follow up with the HR, 5 days afterwards. She replied saying that my details are currently being processed and I should be contacted shortly. It has been a week since then.
Should I do again a follow up email? I don't want to be seen as pushing for the role, but I am interviewing at other firms (got a last 2 round next week), and this one would be my top choice. I do not want to be stuck with an offer expiring before I could get through the process for them.
Any advice on how to handle the situation.
Note that I know the person supposed to interview me as he/she was CCd in every email. And I have seen that an someone has recently updated their LinkedIn profile to incoming at X.

Hey mate,

As long as you keep it polite, I see no harm in sending another follow up email - at the very least, shows you're keen. Each firm tends to define "shortly" in a different sense: for some, it's the next day; for others, the next month!

In my experience, firms like to be kept in the loop of how the hiring process is progressing among their peers. May therefore well be worthwhile dropping a short line saying that you have follow-ups at X and Y next week. That said, this will be a difficult tone to strike without sounding too confident on your part.

Considering that the person cc'd in your emails in your prospective interviewer, it sounds like the hold-up may be due to scheduling difficulties. Saying you're flying through the rounds elsewhere could successfully light a fire.

Key takeaway: yes to sending another brief, polite email; maybe to mentioning you have upcoming interviews elsewhere.

Yeah, difficult balancing act. Perhaps:

"Hi so-and-so,

I'm just writing to follow up on my previous email from 1st May regarding next stage interviews. As I'm sure you can imagine, I'm hugely eager to meet with the company's employees face-to-face and to gain a better understanding of the firm as a whole. I just wanted to inform you that I have two upcoming interviews with X and Y, and - as I'm particular keen to proceed with [firm name] - would appreciate getting a date in the diary as soon as possible.

Kind regards,
