Interviewing for positions you don't really want

I'm relatively early in college and have had 0 off-campus interviews, and I was thinking about interviewing for positions I don't really want just to build that experience. Doing mock interviews with people you already know well just doesn't work.

I realize it's not nice etc, but I guess from a selfish pov, would you say that's a good idea in my position?

If I get flamed to shit I probably won't do it, but I'm genuinely curious if anyone would agree or has done the same (pm me if you like).

If you have the opportunity, defintely go for it. As drexel said interview experience is key to being relaxed when they really matter and the sooner you can get that experience and build your confidence, the better. Don't think of it as being selfish, your expanding your toolkit for being succesful over the long term. Nothing wrong with that.

Yeah now I just gotta find a way to put my resume in 'Operations' terms. I know there's going to be at least one smartass responding, but any ideas on what skills I should try to emphasize?

Ya know its kind of funny, but sometimes when you arent into the position your interviewing for. You sometimes do better than you would if you were into the position. Because your relaxed, not worried, and you grow some balls and become outgoing because you don't give a fuck. I think your in a good position, just don't sound like an idiot. I have been on interviews and just didn't give a shit. And they happened to go extremely well
