Investment Sales Analyst to REPE / Development

Has anyone ever taken this path before and how common is this if you're at a smaller MM brokerage firm? Could anyone share their experiences of going from an analyst in IS to REPE or Dev? Why do some people choose REPE over Dev and is comp structure / hours similar?

I joined an REPE firm doing acquisitions after working at CBRE for 2 years as an analyst. I think it really depends on deal flow.

Different interests, different abilities, different risk tolerances, luck, etc.
