Is 5''7'-5''8' too short to succeed in high finance (male)?

Hello, everyone. I am just wondering whether 5'' 7' -5'' 8' is considered too short for finance. In my business college most males are taller than me as well. So my question is will this height make interviewers think I am weak or at least lead to a negative impression? What about in the office as well? Are taller people seen as more dominant and hence more respected? Also are people of this height more likely to be single as well?

P.S. I know there are other factors and I am NOT 100% generalizing on height here, but I want to know if it plays a role

I think it comes down more so to personality and competence than height. I've met both tall and short lads who are dickheads as well tall and short lads who are solid fellas. Providing you don't develop some kind of needless complex about it (which, it seems, you may be in full swing of), your ability and personality will be the true making / breaking of you.

No. This is all in your head; stop playing mind games with yourself and giving yourself reasons as to why you can't accomplish what you want.

The world is a tough place as it is; don't make your situation harder by thinking that you're limited by your physical attributes such as height, color, age, etc.

You can do anything you put your mind to.

Block out the noise and kick down some doors.

Its actually a statistic that being a tall good looking white man has a higher correlation with being successful. soooo sure, for some it might be an advantage, but some asian quant is clearing 400k out of school so you tell me what you rather be.

I’d rather be the former, but to each their own

The second time I was in rehab, for about a month I stayed in an apartment with all the old fags, and one of them LOVED Dog, we'd watch it every morning and dude does actually seem like a pretty solid guy, his wife got them titties too!! Edit: his wife literally died hours after i made this comment :/

With his platform boots on he might be 5'7''. I live on Oahu and have met Dog and Beth (RIP), and the guy has to be barely above 5 ft. He is incredibly sensitive about his height. There is no doubt that Beth wore the pants in that relationship and was calling the shots. Dog is a friendly guy but he isn't the alpha male he makes himself appear as on his show.

(1) Schwarzman is like 5'5" and so is Kravis.

(2) "In my business college most males are taller than me as well." Well, yeah, you're below-average height. So, by definition, most males in a large-enough sample will be taller than you.

(3) Today's world is increasingly about how smart and competent you are. 30 years ago it would have mattered a lot more.

(4) Everything plays a role, but you don't have control over everything so stop worrying.

You sound very insecure, which is normal at your age. Focus on being better than the competition and you'll do just fine.

If YOU believe it matters, then yes it does.....

Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Short guys believe height plays an outsized role in social contexts. They lose confidence. And now they suck.

Tall guys believe height plays an outsized role in social contexts. They gain confidence. And now they're great.

Your perception of the world either limits or pushes you towards greatness.

Is low height a disadvantage? Yeah, sure. It'd be nice to be a handsome 6'2" with a Mandingo cock. It'd be nice to have a small "million dollar loan". It'd be nice to be born into the British Royal Family (okay, maybe scratch that last one, haha).

But you can't improve what you can't control. You're literally wasting mental energy by stressing over height when you could be thinking about how to be more dominant and respected. How to make a more favorable impression.

Life is tough. Nothing great was ever accomplished by doing something easy. Height isn't even 4% of your accomplishments.

Danny Trejo is 5'6" Gary Vee is 5'7 - 8"

You think they aren't more dominant/respected than your average Adonis supermodel analyst?

So quit acting like a little nerdy bitch. Grab your big Quant Grunt Nuts. And make it rain, baby! THAT's what gonna make you respected.

I know a president of sales for a radio conglomerate and a former Wall Street Hotshot, who are that height or shorter. And Napoleon complex is in full swing. Don't be insecure. Get over it, and don't have Napoleon complex either. Just do your job well and be competitive. And I suggest developing a sense of humor. Since you asked about personal, if shorter guys are funny, they get more ladies. Just letting you know, from a woman.
