Is an MBA necessary for PE if I already have an MSF?
Heading into IB as an analyst with the goal is to get into PE long term. I know the traditional path is MBA after two years of PE but is it possible/ likely to be able to forego the MBA if I already have an MSF? Is an MBA considered "necessary" nowadays to move up to VP in PE or even stick around after your 2 year PE associate stint?
No. The main goal for you know is practical experience. 18-24 months of IB (12 in some cases) is what you should be aiming for and then hit PE recruitment. I think an MBA after having worked in a BB and having an MFin won't change much or increase your chances of PE recruitment.
