Is it worth it for me? IB or work-life balance (lol)
I am currently at the fork in the road where I will have to decide, whether I want to go down the hard-working Investment banking route in order to earn money quickly in the city or to settle in for a leisure lifestyle in my home country.
My main issue with the first point is the fact that my father has been a partner at a golden circle law firm for the past 35 years so in the long-term money wouldnt be an issue for me. The only argument for it would be that I would get money for myself quickly without the inherent negative side effects of inheritance, however from what I am reading in this forum the compensation nowadays in IB isnt that ridiculous anymore and I am just wondering if it is "worth it" to spend your 20s and 30s in an office to come out the other end with "only" 2-3 mm.
Maybe someone who has drastically turned around between these options can comment?
With this attitude, you are set to fail so I would advise against going into IB. It is obvious you wont work hard and already set on your "inheritance". Sad to read "lol"

They are a handful of top international law firms with a strong presence/hertige in London that advise global corporations and governments.

I don't think it is worth it for you, clearly you have a lot going for you which is nothing to be ashamed of, go off and find your passion or something. My family are poor for "only 2 or 3 million" I would happily spend 20's and 30's crawling over broken glass 18 hours a day.
