Is There Office Politics In Sales & Trading?

We have all heard about the sheer height of office politics in Investment Banking. I am sure it leads some of us to wonder what is this like in sales and trading? We have all heard about the meritocratic environment, but, can anyone share some light on any instances of dealing with blatant office politics within their role in S&T.

Any responses are welcomed.

This is spot on. Our sales groups bitch, moan, and groan about account coverage all fucking day. And when things slow down, they’ll always come after each other over account reassignment and bs like that. Institutional salesmen are the evilest humans in all of Finance. Thank god I’m on a desk, I’d kill myself if I had to deal with that shit.
