LATAM IB General
I want to do LATAM IB, what should I know specifically, how do I request these specific groups and how do I network in order to get into this. Know there are some threads on this, but they are a bit older. I want to know as much as I can about LATAM IB, assume I know nothing at all. Greatly appreciated guys. Thank you in advance

As a starting point, fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is a prerequisite.
In terms of what you should know its pretty much the same as you will find in any Technical guide for that side of things. You'll want to have a decent understanding of whats going on Latin America (political and economical). When going through the application for BBs you can usually pick LatAm as your preference which means if you get a Superday, you'll ultimately be interviewing in spanish, english, and/or Portuguese. If you have any other questions PM me i'll try to help as much as possible.

How do I PM you?
LATAM IB...bold choice. JPM is probably most well known BB I think. Local players like Bradesco, Santander, and BTG Pactual are prominent. BTG Pactual is like the mob in Brazil, they always have their "piece" on every deal through some "relationship".....
Genuine question, why is LatAm IB a bold move?
In general (edit: gross generalization...people here take things very literally..read further in below comments), it's materially less deal flow than your normal group, so your experience isn't as good.
Also, just because its WSO I'll add some fuel to the fire with a gross generalization: you aren't an industry expert nor a product expert so people internally look down on those groups (less preftige) because what you're really bringing to the table is just the foreign language and some macro insight.
That being said, if you know you want to work with LATAM companies it's the obvious first choice. Just know that it may come at a price.
Does anyone know what SA return offer rates look like for LatAm groups at BBs? Wondering since it might be smaller teams the rates might be higher
Two others names worth mentioning for LatAm IB are Itau' and BR Partners. The former is a very active bank (stronger locally than abroad) that consistently tops volume and deal value rankings for LatAm. You'll get good exposure to deal flow and similar to BTG Pactual, they like to have their "fingers in many pies" one way or another. One thing I heard (anecdotal evidence though so take with a pinch of salt) is that they work you to the bone and often have 0 respect for WLB. The LatAm equivalent of Lazard Paris essentially. BR Partners also comes up very often in LatAm M&A rankings as being one of the top firms in the region. Much smaller and could be considered a "regional EB". They work with some high profile regional clients and are the go to advisor for Petrobras (good if you like Energy or just working with important regional players).
One general piece of advice is that IB in LatAm has much more of a political component than in the US or Europe. By political I literally mean politicians sticking their nose in deals and being a bit overly invovled in some cases. Either way, could be super fun and sure as shit an experience most people won't have. If you really want to do it, go for it.
If you are an analyst in a LatAm team, do you work a specific product group (M&A, DCM, ECM) or do you work several at a time?
I assume that in larger banks you fall into a specific group but in smaller shops/boutiques with limited manpower you may be roped into working on multiple offerings of theirs
Any idea on Analyst comp for LatAm at a BB?
Does anyone know any boutique Investment Banks that focus on LatAm only?
BR Partners
Prisma Capital
Vace Partners
Vinci Partners
Inverlink
Mainly locally based as it doesn't make much sense for a boutique to be LatAm focused with US/EU offices
