You ever look at a LinkedIn humble brag post about a person landing a prestigious internship/ full time position at a great company and when you go look at their profile, you're like " how tf did this person get in with this profile "

At least for consulting, particularly for internships, GPA and intelligence (measured in the ability to crush cases) are the most important factors, which don't really come across via LinkedIn profiles. I agree the posts are all obnoxious though.

Depends on where you're interviewing. Case robots that can't show creativity don't typically pass the bar at MBB.
Dude...get a life and turn off the computer. Yeah it sucks to not get an offer but letting something as stupid as some kid posting about their success is enough to make YOU upset? Don’t let them live in your head rent free like that

I think you are missing a key point here. Yes, looking great on paper helps, but it is not everything. Having 4 previous internships and a 3.99 at a target does not guarantee you anything. On the other hand, having ~only~ 1 internship and a 3.6 does not mean you're screwed. A lot of this is about networking your way to the interview and proving to the interviewers that you are capable for the role, as well as connecting with the interviewers and showing them that you are the type of person they would want to work with.
I got MBB despite only having 1 internship (that was not with a name-brand organization). Most of my Linkedin profile consisted of TA jobs and working for my university. Nothing 'prestigious.' Yes, I had a high GPA, but I showed on my resume and cover letter the impact I made in this one internship, and I sold myself very well in the interviews. Most people on WSO obsess over looking flawless on paper, whereas a lot of it is personal qualities. In my final round with MBB, I had great conversations with both the partners about my community service work I have done with my fraternity and my experience dropping premed as a sophomore (he was a healthcare-focused partner). When deciding who to work with, do the partners in the final round interview really care who had a 3 month internship with a 'prestigious' company or who had the highest GPA? They want someone who they can work with for many hours (yes, I understand that you need to be able to get the interview).
So basically, you cannot judge a future co-worker based on their Linkedin profile!
What University did you go to?
A tier 2 target (not an ivy. Think the level of UVA, Notre Dame, Georgetown, Emory, etc. Not saying I went to one of those, but the school was at that level of prestige (18-26 US News). MBB combined hired 25 students per year from my school, so decent numbers but nothing special.
This is very true. Certainly there's a high bar for intelligence (which is measured by your GPA and casing). However, in my opinion, your charisma and ability to present, debate, and communicate are the most important parts of the interview. That's what matters when you're facing a client. Coincidentally, those skills, which are much harder to teach, matter more than your college internships 10 years into your career too.
Probably because they spent less time dicking around on LinkedIn and more time preparing for interviews. I'm happy to see that you think you can do a better job at determining MBB material, than, well, MBB.
