London Business School MSc Financial Analysis or Vanderbilt Masters in Finance

Currently a senior at a large American state school (non target). 3.9 GPA, relevant internships with the most recent being AM at a BB, good EC, and 710 GMAT. I'm a US citizen.

I've interviewed with both LBS and Vandy and I'm at a bit of a crossroads. I'd like to work in IB in either NY or London after graduation. I've heard that LBS places very well into IB, but I've also heard the same about Vanderbilt. Which would you take if you were in my position?

Still waiting to hear from London School of Economics MSc Finance and Private Equity. If I'm accepted there - it'll likely be a no brainer.

Side note: I have Swiss dual - citizenship, so working in London is much more feasible than if I were coming as only an American. I realize this is a unique situation but any feedback is much appreciated.

Vandy has phenomenal placement in banking. Roughly 1/3 of their recent class was placed in IB, with 25% of the total class over the last two years going to the Northeast. While I can't speak for London, I know Vandy is a solid program. Hopefully you hear back from them in the coming weeks.

I think this decision comes down to if you want to stay in the US or London after.

  • US = Vandy
  • UK/EU = LBS

LBS places very well, if not better than the LSE program. Top EB, BB, PE will recruit from LBS.

Hi Kasper,

Based on what you say, all roads point to London. Cheers, Natalie

There are a couple of other things you should think about here: 1.) LBS is in the heart of London and EXTREMELY expensive

2.) If you don't have UK/EU citizenship as well, getting a job in London right after may be very tricky

3.) Where do you actually want to live?
