M&A Product Groups in London

I was wondering whether someone could go into detail about M&A product groups in London and how they share responsibilities with the Country Coverage teams (I am talking about EMEA/EU M&A groups which exist at MS and BAML to my knowledge; Not UK M&A teams). Are they involved at all if the client is in a country with significant local presence (Germany, France, Italy)? If so, it is possible to generalise their usual role?

JPM has a senior heavy M&A team in Europe with probably only 2-3 Analyst / Associate so it is not a good example. However, they are generally not involved at all in country specific deals. There may be just some senior involvement especially in the pitching phase and then on execution depending on how relevant the client is.

I'm grateful that I have two middle fingers, I only wish I had more.

Yes, it is based in London and it is not Cazenove. JPM had an m&a execution group in London that was merged with the industry group around 2012-2013 but few seniors with a couple of juniors are still there. Mahir Zaimoglu is an MD in that group covering FSG. They had a VP who just relocated to Canada within JPM and another couple of junior guys and then there is a senior MD Vice Chairman for M&A, British, but I don’t remember the name. Hernan Cristerna who is global co-head of m&a also sits in London.

I'm grateful that I have two middle fingers, I only wish I had more.
