MBB: Importance and benefits of a good rating
Hey everyone.
I’m almost 9 months into my first year at MBB (think Atlanta office) and while my first two cases ended up great from a reviews perspective (likely outperform), I’m under the impression my third case supervisor has given me the impression that I am an average performer and treats me as such. I feel that part of this is out of my control, but the lack of growth opportunities have become a self fulfilling prophecy and I’m not given opportunities to go above and beyond.
While my job is not at risk (knock on wood) and I’d be surprised if I’m not on track to be promoted in the normal track, I’m wondering if it is worth pursuing a higher rating.
Are there material advantages to being a top performer other than a leg up in PE recruiting? How much does it help for business school? What is the best approach here?
