Can anyone give some insight into the first round phone screen with ML for the SA program in IBK? I'm from a non-target/finance major. I would asssume technical, but very technical compared to say Cit, GS or Lazard?

Really depends who's conducting the interview. If it's HR it clearly will be more fit, but if bankers they might get more technical. ML is usually not as technical as most other firms - more emphasis on fit.
Thanks NYstate - it said it will examine my tech skills, so I assume a banker.
I had a few curveball tech questions in my last interview, so I just don't want to be stumbling again over the phone.
ML probably has the MOST emphasis on fit- which is tough to show in a phone interview. From experience, phone interviews have just served to see whether or not you are a total idiot.
If you can, I would recommmend you try to schedule something in person.
I really doubt you'd see any curveballs. Clearly, this will all depend on the banker. Usually for initial phone screens they're sticking with the resume and maybe asking the typical "how would you value a company." The follow-up questions will depend on your responses.

Balooga - I would like to do an in person, as when I was home on break I did this with other BBs for first rounds, but timewise with school right now, it would be very tough. I feel that I have done a good job in the past of showing my personality over the phone, so hopefully I can keep it up for ML.

I didn't get a single technical from ML. ALL fit. Mostly just "tell me about yourself" and "tell me more about this specific experience" type questions.

I have a first round phone interview with ML IBK coming up and I was hoping some of you can tell me what to expect. I attend a non-core school and secured a few first rounds for IB. I really want to be at ML and I don't want to mess up. Any feedback will be helpful.
