Hi Everyone- Just curious what you guys think about leaving the PMD program to take an internal wholesaler position? Seems like there is very little chance of graduating the PMD, and the money seems to be better on the wholesaler side.

I'm not familiar with the PMD program, but I will tell you to be careful when looking at wholesaler salaries, as there is a big discrepancy. An external can make 3-10X as much as an internal, and his salary is much more tied to assets than the internal's. The road from internal to external is long and hard, and many don't make it. internal wholesaling is also a very difficult job, as you basically spend the entire day on the phone trying to get things to the point where your external can have a face to face visit with the client. External salaries also vary widely.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
