MM Industrials LBOs to Tech/Consumer Growth Equity?

Currently an associate at a MM fund focused primarily on later-stage, industrials LBOs and while I like PE generally, I find myself somewhat bored by the companies I'm dealing with. A lot of our operational value add comes from cutting costs and optimizing supply chain/logistics - certainly helpful skillsets to have but not the most exciting stuff in the world. I have friends at various tech/growth shops and I find myself drawn to the type of investments they're making over the stuff I'm looking at - how doable is a shift in industries at this point in my career? Would it make more sense to lateral as soon as possible or to wait until business school?
