Recruiting Timeline For Summer Analyst Roles At MBB + Other Consulting Firms?

I am a rising junior at a target school and am interested in management consulting. I know this question was posted back in 2014, but I don't know if anything has changed since then. Obviously a lot is up in the air right now with COVID, but I was wondering if anybody had any info about the consulting timeline in recent years. Any answers are helpful! thanks

Yeah your resume drop will be around the end of summer or the start of the school year, and I think some firms (Oliver Wyman IIRC?) have already opened applications- so start applying. At my semi-target BCG did interviews at the end of September and McK did interviews like 2 weeks after them. Network with some senior folks plus some junior folks at the location you want to enter (seniors carry more weight but the juniors can be more involved in nitty-gritty recruitment details like screening resumes). I believe for BCG MBA recruitment happens either very close to undergrad recruitment or overlaps with it, and full-time recruitment happens right after intern recruitment. Effectively the bulk of recruitment happens around the same stretch of a few weeks in early fall.

Cold emails to alumni work fairly well, though it could take a couple emails to get someone’s attention. If they don’t reply wait 4 or 5 days and try following up. If you still aren’t getting replies maybe also expand your scope to high school alumni- it helped me. You can use LinkedIn to find peoples’ names and then plug their names into their firm’s standard email template.
