Morgan Stanley Alleged Racial Bias

What do you guys think about this? Marilyn Booker ex Head of Diversity sues MS for firing her after working 26 years at MS.

Some of her allegations include 71%-from-peak funding cuts for her programs, a lackadaisical attitude towards retaining black employees and not accepting her proposals to work with blacks like Steve Harvey and certain NBA Stars for events.

I've been supporting and paying attention to the racially charged furore on the streets and suddenly this high level executive lawsuit seems to distract a little from the life-and-death situations and violence we're facing right now. But I could be too narrow minded?

Edit: cynical side of me thinks she's riding on this to get revenge. Believer side of me thinks maybe there's some truth and change is needed in the upper boardrooms too.

That's true. We probably need radical changes on the streets all the way up to the board rooms. I hope we are able to hold onto the capacity needed to effect changes at all levels

Your point is based on the premise that Marilyn Brooker was fired because Morgan Stanley's senior management is somehow racist. Do you have any proof on that?

Maybe they fired her because all her ideas were expensive as hell. Come on, work with NBA stars? Can't she promote diversity without burning so much cash? Given the current situation, firing the Head of Diversity sounds like a bad idea, but if they did it anyway they must have good reasons.

When you're racist, you don't hire a Head of Diversity in the first place.

Many times its not a matter of having stellar attendees or having huge budgets but being able to use them wisely.

Dont know the history behind this but I would assume that something was going wrong with the project (maybe not enough results) or they just wanted to cut non-essential departments.

This is somethng that happens with HR too nothing that special at all. Anyways something must have happened if they are going to the court.

"Prospect in IB-M&A" Bit of a tangent but Steve Harvey is racist lol let's not forget there are black racists too

Tangent on your tangent, I respect hustle, but Steve Harvey is getting it selling ice to eskimos. First, the guy gets divorced/married ~3 times than writes a book about relationships. I know he's successful, but why have him come to speak about banking matters. Does he have a banking career?

Another tangent, I think Morgan is doing the same thing with Kevin Hart, trying to partner with him to teach minorities about finance. That's a good thing trying to increase knowledge, but to me it would be like having Tom Cruise talk to kids about how to make it in the NBA. Good on Kevin Hart for taking that up, but I guess there's no one else to do it.

sounds non-sense there. I am probably healthier if I am spending less on health care but smh spending less on diversity proves that the company is more racist. Typical lefties

I'll probably take some heat for this answer, but I honestly don't see how she can scream racism. She was at the bank for 26 years and was an MD. She didn't quit because of racism at the bank -- she was fired...in December, and then by happenstance during one of the most racially charged moments in recent history, she happens to file a lawsuit claiming the people who fired her are racist. As for her claims that the bank wouldn't work with Steve Harvey for events, it isn't because the bank is racist, but because of the make-up of their clients. Do you really think MS PW customers would rather talk to the host of Family Feud (a show they probably don't watch), or talk golf with Justin Rose (the only sport they play)? This isn't to say MS (or any bank) is perfect, but this whole lawsuit seems frivolous and opportunistic from a pissed off ex-employee who was more than happy to sing the bank's praises when the checks were still coming.

Yeah I was a bit cynical about that. 3 whole decades and at executive level towards the end, and she chooses to speak out right at the end and only after when she got fired... the motivations seem to be different from what she alleges lol.

Head of a worthless department. paid to spread a venomous ideology. I hope she bankrupts the organization.

Never discuss with idiots, first they drag you at their level, then they beat you with experience.
