I love Chris Nolan's films. They probably comprise four of my top five films of all time (Momento, The Prestige, Inception, Interstellar).
However, I have mixed feelings about this one. The fact that it's a historical war film means there won't be a twist or a mind fuck. Will still watch it opening weekend or shortly thereafter though.
I think that's precisely the point...
Nolan isn't just succeeding based on clever gimmicks. The true test of a filmmaker's brilliance is if he can take any topic, even a "boring" historical war theme (like Kubrick did with Full Metal Jacket) and still make it extraordinary
Though my guess is the film will still have a unique angle or perspective that serves as the hook
Nolan is amazing. Inception and Interstellar are two of my favorite movies. Memento is a classic as well. I have been watching a lot of Band of Brothers recently so I am really looking forward to Dunkirk.
Blade Runner 2049 has just been announced too, the announcement trailer looks incredible
