Niche DCM guy looking for advice
Hey guys,
I am an analyst (less than a year out of a top 50 non-target) in the leveraged finance division of a commercial bank. Due to the territorial nature of our group, we have an in house syndicate team that operates separately from the DCM team which syndicates most of the banks loans. I am part of this niche syndicate, on the front end of the origination process. So while I have done the standard pitchbook/marketing material work, I have seen less dealflow because of the specific nature of our group. I also have been exposed to less modeling than most because it flows through the underwriters. Still have gotten my hands on some of it, but I just really have to stick my neck out because it's not my direct responsibility. I have gotten great exposure to capital structure advisory however, and have a great understanding of credit markets. What sort of career moves do you think I should look into/ have a chance at? I was thinking transferring to a full on DCM group, or maybe a BDC or middle market credit fund. I appreciate the advice in advance.
