No response after final interview for 1 months

I interviewed with a multi - billion dollar fund for their analyst role. After all 4 rounds which include meeting with local office, regional office, global head, partners of the firm and a 10-page research report, with the entire interview process lasted for 1 months, I still haven't heard back from them. It's been 1 month since my final round, I haven't heard back from them even after my follow-up email last week. What's happening?

I've sent follow-up emails in all previous rounds and usually got reply within 1 week. This time, I am just not sure what happened? And what can I do?

Such a bummer. They seem that be quite a respectable team - just thinking, they could have just told me that I didn't get the job. And the partner with whom I interviewed with for the last round told me that they quite like me.

Well, I guess I'll just move on. Job hunt and interview is just such a pain, esp when I have a full time job...

I'd say they probably passed on you, for whatever reason. Cut losses and go elsewhere.

I have a friend who lives in the country, and it's supposed to be an hour from 42nd Street. A lie! The only thing that's an hour from 42nd Street is 43rd Street!

No downside to reaching out, but yeah they passed you over.

Hedge funds are super rude this way - they don't bother to contact you once they decide you wont be useful to them

On the other hand, if they do want you, they will pursue you pretty hard. There is a mantra (true or not) that talent is hard to find and thus you should go out of your way to grab it.

I’d say you should keep your morale up and move on. Keep your losses small. Plently of others to apply to. If you landed the interview with this one, I’m sure you can get a chance at other funds too.

Haven’t done a HF interview, but have seen long waits in between both from interviewee and interviewer’s perspective.

It’s likely they passed on you and they just didn’t bother with the courtesy to tell you. Another possibility is, they liked you but you’re their 2nd or 3rd choice and they are pursuing someone they liked more and haven’t closed the deal with them yet. And in that scenario, they don’t want to break the news to a potential backup (because no one wants to know they are back up choices) in case their first choice(s) don’t pan out.

A third possibility is that their hiring needs or bandwidth / capability to hire has changed and just didn’t bother to tell you. I feel like this is a less likely scenario here with a HF, but it has certainly happened to me before where the interview process was extremely extensive (met the team, group heads, both local and international markets, and completed case studies).
