No Summer Gig

Despite the few interviews I managed to get and the countless days spent writing email after email to boutique IB firms in NY, LA, SF, and Podunk, none have yielded any offers for an internship this summer. Although I'm at a target school, it's quite a big one and competition is still very tough. I considered taking the CFA a few weeks ago but i'm not nearly as prepared as I should be to take it in June (so i've plan to take it in Dec). I had an internship last summer working for a regional PWM firm but I would hate to have to do that again. Since I'm not majoring in Finance, I definitely feel like summer would be a good time to learn up on that area. Any advice on what I should do to strengthen my resume in time for full-time recruiting in 6 months? Thanks

You should probably still consider getting some type of internship in the financial services industry as one of your top priorities. If you are at a target, check out what companies are still coming to your school.

If it hasn't been too long since your interviews, go back and ask your interviewers for help on how to make yourself a better candidate. Most of the time, they're nice enough to give you some recommendations. When you have time this summer, just make sure to brush up on how you present yourself for full time. Good luck.
