NYU Housing Assignments

I figured could use a thread to see if anyone is in the same place this summer. I just found out I have a single in 26th Street, which I heard is not the best. On the plus side, I'll be within 10 minutes walking to the office which is clutch. Where is your assignment?

Mainstreet, I stayed in Carlyle last year. You can't beat the location (in Union Square) and the proximity of the green and yellow subway lines (so that you can easily to get to work). However, you'll probably have 3 other roommates and there is a possibility that you might not have the privacy of your own bedroom within the suite (i.e., You might have to live "in the open" next to the kitchen.) Also, (and I don't mean to gross you out, I just want to be honest), if you live on one of the lower floors, you will probably encounter rodents.

I lived in Carlyle last summer and it was decent, though you're sharing a room. I lived in the "open" room - it was alright, kinda sucks with girls, but you get used to it haha.....location cannot be beat, except for the insane number of homeless people loitering outside at 1am every night

how long after submitting your app did you find out? i selected category e (no meal plan, apartment style dorms) and put 8 choices. i then checked "only consider the options i have listed" so i am hoping i won't be screwed

Haha true, I'm not going to complain about the position. Is 26th street really that bad? What I've heard is mostly about the location, which I don't care about because its near the office, what is awful about it?

hey- i'm also living in carlyle court this summer.. hopefully my roommates are normal people, not like i'll be around much anyways. my friend lived in carlyle last year and said it was pretty nice and in a great location.

and if you want to check, you have to go onto the nyu summer housing website and "check the status of your application" and then enter all your info and it should be there on the bottom.

So the NYU dorms close on Aug 8 and my SA program goes until the 14th. Any suggestions? I looked at EHS, but I lived in the NYU dorms last year and liked them a lot more...

make friends with an NYU student where you work or whatever and crash at his place for the last week

I'm in the same boat and will either sublet something off of craigslist that is nice, or do like many said and stay with a friend who goes to NYU.

They already posted many assignments, if they haven't posted one for you call the summer housing department and see whats up.

Anyone still not heard? This is the first time I've tried NYU summer housing, and I'm not exactly sure how it works. Do they usually let housing info out in spurts, or am I on some waiting list? Anyways, just want to know if I should start looking elsewhere. I applied about 4 days after it opened up for sign-ups.
