Office visit @ Grant Thornton next week--what to wear?
Hello all,
I had a great conversation with a partner at GT last week and she got me in touch with a manager in the advisory practice, who has already sent me a message inviting me to come down to the office. I haven't responded yet...should I ask him whats appropriate attire?
I'm thinking either suit/tie, suit/no tie, or blazer/khakis with or without tie. Don't wanna go in there lookin way overdressed like I did for an interview last week though, at a smaller public company. That was embarrassing as all get out--everyone in the internal audit dept was in frickin polo shirts and buttondowns!
Any thoughts?
aren't you always suppose to wear suits for interviews though
I think suit and a nice shirt is fine. Make sure the shirt is nicely ironed with a crisp collar. I find in the advisory practice ties are only put on when going in from of the client, even then it depends on the type of client.

But they work there, you don't.
@Jimbo: this isn't quite an interview though. It's more like I'm interviewing him. Office visit I guess is how I will characterize it.
@damn.analyst: is this aspect (ties only at client) pretty similar in the tax or audit practices ?
1) the idea of being over dressed as embarrassing is just idiotic. i would always rather be over dressed than under dressed.
2) stop being a bitch and wear a suit
3) grant thornton sucks. i would avoid it...unless your an accountant........if thats the case, get off this forum and stick with goingconcern.com
