Career Resources
Hmmm seems like you’re in a tough spot. I think the best course of action is to completely stop trying/caring about work, say fuck school, start smoking a ton of OG kush, and then just try to find the easiest job where you work as little as possible
This sounds like a champagne problem. Finish out your internship and continue to network. Take whichever offer is best for you (IB or buyside). Interning at BoFA your sophomore summer is insane within itself and provides you a lot of power to move laterally to other programs or teams.
Thanks so much for those kind words and great advice! I don't think I was clear: while I really like IB, I'm very tempted to take this role because I've had mixed opinions of my summer. I'm just trying to make sure I'm thinking this through on all angles and not making a mistake of going buyside just for its sake. The internship ends in a couple of weeks but the offer is due mid-August. Did that add more color to things?
This is a looong post. I don't think you're very clear with that this new firm does exactly and how it fits in with your career goals. You mention they do asset allocation/manager selection? Is this something you'd want your fulltime career to be? Perfectly viable career path but if you're going to a fund of funds/allocator, especially early on in your career, you do miss out on a lot of transferable skillset that you would learn in a banking or direct investing role.
I had to be vague because I already gave out enough information that people could identify the firm. Thought the goals were explained in a way where readers could see between the lines. Thx.
