Paths to development
if one wanted to eventually become a real estate developer which path is the best path? Is there a best path I'm? I'm just accepted an internship at a small REPE firm wearing multiple hats where there will be an offer to return if I perform well.
Maybe I am missing the spirit of this question, but the best path seems to clearly be to go work for a developer, be on the development team, move up, gain experience managing projects and a firm...
Then go out on your own if so desired, or just keep getting promoted/etc.
I would say people transition to development teams from fields like const. mngt, architecture, real estate finance/investment, brokerage, appraisal, law, consulting, govt, and even accounting (and others) fairly regularly. But you need to do development to learn development, so just start there if you can.
