PE recruiting as a 3rd year analyst or associate promote
Was wondering about PE recruiting opportunities if one decides to go the 3rd year analyst route or after being directly promoted to associate. Everyone talks about formal PE recruiting a couple months into the job, so is it more about networking/connections over headhunters at that point?
Will be going to a mid-tier BB for next summer (Citi/BAML/CS) and was wondering about rotating groups or locations internationally for a 3rd year. Also considering associate promotion. Just curious to hear from others who have gone through this process.

which firm?
doesn’t really matter to the question, does it?
wanted to know if it's citi or nah
Yes, they don’t allow 3 years as an analyst
The general consensus is that recruiting is possible anywhere from An1-Asso2 but my vantage point is London so I'm not sure how useful that is.
that's actually helpful. is it mostly informal recruiting as an associate?

I found recruiting as a 3rd year to be pretty easy (and I was super late in the cycle). Did an AMA a while back which provides some background info, happy to answer more questions either in that thread or here https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/ama-non-target-3rd-year-analyst-…
thanks for the context. do you know if upper MM PE firms will only recruit first years on cycle or are there still opportunities for those firms as a 3rd year
