Pharma/Biotech Exit Opps
I recently interned in a healthcare group and specifically enjoyed working with their pharma practice. I was wondering what sort of exit opportunities come from those positions? Do people go into general healthcare PE? or are there Biotech specific funds I could be looking into? Any and all information would be helpful
following also curious about specifically without a science background
Just started so don't have the best feel for it yet, but I've mostly seen people leave for L/S funds, biotech startups, VC (if they have a science background). I haven't really seen anybody leave for traditional buyout PE, but from my conversations with other people it should still be possible, maybe just a matter of self-selection.
Do you think focusing exclusively on biopharma puts them at a disadvantage considering buyout PE for Healthcare is typically HC services?
Probably less so if you do on-cycle when nobody has any deals under their belt, more so the later on you go into your banking stint.
What are some examples of L/S funds that are out there
EcoR1 is one and it's known to hire people without MD/PhD backgrounds. Reason being is that they focus too much on science and not what makes a good investment.
thanks for this. Where on the spectrum do you think a patent lawyer with a finance background and MS in biotechnology fall?
