HC for Piper Jaffray has historically been the firm's flagship group, but the firm and the IBD as a whole has been struggling immensely
If you are going to go PJ, HC is the best group. It's the only group that still sees sizable and respectable M&A deals. Make sure you don't get stuck doing CM work though.
Are you talking NY or MPLS office (or another one)? NY office is mediocre (highly unimpressed with the guys I have met out of that office). Minny office isn't much better, but the reputation is still strong enough to land you a MM PE (more likely lower MM) job in Minny, Chicago, etc. Also has strong feeder into Corp Dev in Minny (UHG, 3M, etc.).
