No because most of the time the person does something cooler than me - entertainment executive, talent agent, best-selling author, head of development at a video game company, real estate PE principal, etc. (Los Angeles) Bankers socially are the Irish people at the bottom of the Titanic; we get drunk together and wait for the next iceberg to hit.

I wonder - is this different in NY? Every time it has come up for me, every time, the answer is something like, "Oh. Ok." Or if the person was a banker before, they are like "Oh yeah, I did some time at DLJ." As for dating, you literally cannot impress girls by being in finance on the West Coast (SF even worse than LA because of tech / founders added to the stack above you), but perhaps NY is different.

Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes.

No.. because I don't define myself by my work, and I honestly feel sorry for those that do.

Super common among the bros in their 20s cause that's really all they got, but if you're doing this past 30 ... damn, you need to find something else in this life more valuable than working your ass off to make money for others.

Plus, I think talking about work just isn't that interesting .. I mean, unless you have some funny story that everyone can relate to.
