livingthedream.....oh....i thought there are more opportunities in london than in the US or Asia....thanks for the info. Guess i have to stay in ibanking for couple of years...
so which group should i work in? ...lev fin, financial sponsors,or M&A. I heard that in the sponsors group, its more like a 'BS' role while in Lev fin and M&A, i can gain more technical skills..
RBSLevFin is (and has been for the past decade) the #1 arranger of sponsored/leveraged transactions in Europe. You should be able to got on with a good PE shop after a couple years there. Very difficult group to break into though.
if you want to go into pe i wouldn't recommend RBS. you should aim for much bigger brand names. ideally you should be oxbridge + GS/ms but target school + relevant corp fin at a BB/good boutique is enough to give you a shot.

If you go to OxBridge check your local on-campus recruiting office.
VERY tough to get in straight out of school. They normally hire ex IBers or qualified accountants at least.
