Project Finance in London & deal origination strategy

Could someone shed some light on the project finance landscape in London? In terms of players (large firms? boutiques?), target markets, dealflow, compensation and prospects.

Second question: I've been talking with people working at project finance boutiques focusing on various developing countries. They told me that their deal sourcing was basically based on previous relationships and reputation/word-of-mouth, recognizing that they had little to no proactive strategy to obtain new deals.

That's understandable given the information asymmetry in those countries; however I may have ideas to implement more systematic deal origination strategies by leveraging my knowledge of the region. Now don't get me wrong, I'm just a fucking prospect, but I feel like there's definitely some room for improvement. Would joining a boutique as an analyst give me a shot at convincing the MDs/partners to try some new moves?
