Public sector consulting to Infrastructure Private Equity?

I'm 1 year out of undergrad working at a boutique GPS consulting firm (a total of 3y exp) and have done a few projects in the infrastructure sector. Ideally I would like to work in renewable infra PE - Do you guys think this move is possible? or should I be aiming for a stepping stone role in infra advisory or project finance?
Also for the infra guys here what are some good resources, especially on the financial modelling side of things?

maybe some of the core funds investing in de-risked assets yielding high single digits, e.g. fully developed renewables, could be achievable - they typically are more open to people from non-banking backgrounds. places like infrared, lifeco's, low-risk pension funds (not CPPIB / middle east), but even then typically big4 experience.

probably difficult to make a play for the core+ / opportunistic funds (MFs, stonepeak, GIP, etc.) targeting mid-high teens since those are populated with BB / EB power / M&A backgrounds.
