PwC Mgmt Consulting vs. Goldman Sachs PWM??
Considering both PwC Mgmt Consulting (NYC) and GS PWM (Chicago) for summer internship in 2019. Anyone have any opinions, thoughts, insights into these roles? Interested to know anything about:
-exit opps -pay -hours/lifestyle -firm/position prestige -any firsthand experience
Well these are completely different jobs, it really depends on what you want to do later.
GS PWM.
Why do you say that?
When you walk into a room, you're a Goldman man / woman.
What's your end goal? FT IB?
Anyone know what hours to expect for GS PWM internship?
GS. Name alone is 100x more prestigious than PwC. Jobs are very different though, really depends on what your end goal is.
I know this might not be popular, but I'd honestly do PWC. Management consulting at a Big 4 is never a bad gig. If you want to do PWM, obv go goldman but if you do you could really lock yourself up in that industry.
I originally thought this was fulltime. As an internship, I'd def go with MGMT consulting. Almost a no-brainer. You'll get real exposure to consulting work and will be able to better identify if the lifestyle is for you. At the end of the day, you can choose where you would like to go after the internship (e.g., consulting, cf, startup, etc.)
I don't think PWM will provide you as much insight into the industry. Consultants come from many places, you'll be able to speak with people who have had the internships, full-time, etc.
