PWP vs. Qatalyst Partners

Thought I would ask the WSO community

With regards to analyst experience, dealflow, exits, overall experience, compensation, culture, etc... how do PWP and Qatalyst stack up against one another?

Have a bit of a preference for Tech, but not so much that it would completely sway things.

Qatalyst way better exit for VC and startups, only other tech bank in it's league is Goldman, then maybe MS a couple years ago. But for Qatalyst you'll need more than just a bit of a preference for tech since tech m&a is all they do

Going to be pretty tough to beat Q in terms of deal flow and compensation. Can't comment on culture.

As others have mentioned, there is an obvious path from Q to VC/startup. But also you need to recognize that any reputable buyout platform (tech-focused or otherwise) is going to be well aware of Qatalyst, their dominance in the tech space, and the quality of their personnel. This is a highly-selective firm that that has been consistently executing headline deals since Quattrone set up shop.
