Q&A: Implementation Consulting Associate - Breaking in with a Low GPA

Hi WSO! Looking to give back to the community so I decided to host an Q&A on implementation consulting.

Quick Background

  • Non-target school
  • Low GPA (under 3.2)
  • Graduated in last few years and have been working as an implementation consultant (good option for members that can't break into management/strategy consulting right out of undergrad)

Thank You, I have been a part of the interviewing process for my company since getting hired. There's a lot of things we look at but one top thing we look for is someone who can learn quickly and remain calm. Throughout the case process there are a lot of things that we throw at you to see how you respond in the heat of the moment. If we can't trust you to do that then we can't trust that you will be able to do it with the client.

I managed to get on the phone with a partner next week. I am thinking how can I ask for a recommendation or get selected for an interview. He is a senior partner/director of the office I am applying to. any recommendations?
