Quant/Systematic Fund recruiting

Could anyone explain or give some insight on the process for quant/systematic hedge fund recruiting? I’m currently 1 yr FT in a quantitative role for private markets but am curious to know the best way to try and move to a quantitative position in the public markets at a fund. Headhunters? My background from undergrad is in computer science
