RBC Capital Markets Investment Banking London
Hi all,
What are your opinions on RBC Capital Markets summer internship for Investment Banking in London? I know they are growing very quickly and have cracked the top 20 for M&A this year, has strong commodities operations, and strong in N.America, but where do they stand in London? I have heard from people that RBC is growing very quickly in Europe.
Would appreciate it if people could give me an insightful answer!
i know they've made a ton of pretty decent hires for trading in london recently. can't comment on banking though besides the fact that they are in the 20's range in league table rankings.
Anyone know much about banking?
Did you get an offer or they still interviewing? I applied but didn't hear back re first rounds...
I have been wondering myself. Since RBC CM has such a large commercial branch, don't they have a huge capital base? Not sure, but aren't they kinda high in Syn. & LevFin (behind JP Morgan, BoA, WF, and Citi)? I'm only hypothesizing. I would like more clarification on RBC CM groups. I know they are BB in Canada and MM in U.S., but that's about it. Anybody on WSO work there or know the firm better?
Hi,
If it helps, I know they have a massive building in London so maybe that shows something?
taxes: No, they are only in canada. RBC is purely MM and not even a top MM in the U.S. They are not usually ranked on any top 10 LevFin while the other banks you listed are consistently on there.

Don't know if your joking or serious, but either way people will rip you for making statement like that. With regard to RBC in Europe, I saw this yesterday: https://www.rbccm.com/about/file-492277.pdf
Got it. Much appreciated.
I just read they are growing aggressively and have broken into the top 15 for M&A globally
Why would you create a topic and then start replying to yourself? Does every thread on WSO have an ulterior motive nowadays? I'm guessing you work there. By the way here's 4Q 2009, the most recent.
World M&A 1. Morgan Stanley 2. Goldman Sachs 3. Citi 4. BAML 5. JP Morgan 6. Lazard 7. UBS 8. Credit Suisse 9. Deutsche 10. Barclays 11. Rothschild 12. BNP Paribas 13. Evercore 14. Commerzbank 15. Greenhill
Did they complete recruiting already?

So what's the deal with RBC CM in London?
They have a relatively new presence there but seem to want to grow in Europe
any opinions on their prospects for the future?
My experience with both the NY and London team have been very good. Very professional and good prospects. The firm is actually profitable and people there get paid.
RBC CM London is their hub for europe and EM Markets.
