Reneging on MM regional to BB NYC
So I am in a bit of an odd position.
I have accepted an offer at an MM Regional IB for SA 2021. I also have an offer on the table from a NYC Tier 2 BB for SA 2021.
I am quite scared about the MM space due to COVID-19 and would much prefer to be at the BB in NYC.
I was wondering if I can reneg on the offer and if doing so would that jeopardize my BB offer?
If I did reneg I am definitely going to be very thankful to the MM and try not to burn any bridges.
What are your thoughts?

know people who signed a tier2/3 BB offer and reneged it to sign a GS/MS offer only to get the offers pulled and was left with nothing
but this depends on the bank on if they care whether or not you reneged another banks offer (e.g Google wont care if you reneged a MS signed offer to sign with them - but this is apples to oranges. though have heard of some banks dont care abt about reneging)
If the BB is BAML then you're fine, anecdotes from close friends tell me they dont care about reneging. Cant't speak for others
How did your friends know? Did the other bank end up telling the BAML HR and they said they didn't care?
I was in a very similar situation and reneged on an MM for a tier 2 BB, you have to be very careful because it is possible that you lose both offers, but in my experience that eventuality is somewhat unlikely. Most firms will contact your school and get you blackballed from future alumni recruiting events. Most importantly, if you choose to renege do NOT tell the MM where you're going and do not publish your new opportunity for several months.
