Are there any americans out there who have started out working in acquisitions domestically, then successfully made the move to a shop in Asia doing similar type of work?
If so, what was the cultural and operational transition like in terms of working and interacting with groups over there?
And what is the demand for Americans expatriates with 3-4 years of principal side experience at mega-funds over in Asian shops (or even American/multinational investors with Asian offices)?
In terms of poaching talent, I'd imagine at the senior level there's less of a barrier as long as you can bring in or cultivate business relationships, but at the junior level it's just cheaper and more convenient to recruit locally, so i am wondering if this type of a move is common or even feasible as a 'junior.'
This is something that has always appealed to me as someone who has family there and can also speak the language, so I'm just curious if anyone has been successful in doing this.
