Senior Year Banking Internship at UBS Healthcare - FT Opportunities?
Hey guys, I wanted to get your advice on this. I'm graduating this semester, May 2010, and although I was a senior during recruiting season I received a Summer Analyst offer for UBS Healthcare. I am continuing to recruit for other full-time opportunities, but this is probably going to be the only I will have upon graduation. I know that UBS Healthcare has taken a big hit from Ben Lorello leaving, but as a summer internship I know this would be a great opportunity. My concern is for full-time.
I'm not 100% sure that I want to stay in the healthcare field for investment banking, and was thinking about leveraging my summer experience in looking for other full-time jobs in Fall 2010. Since I will have graduated by then, I know that most other banks, consulting firms, and F500 corporations are looking just for Seniors graduating in Spring 2011 during the next recruiting cycle. What do you think my chances are of being able to leverage an unconventional senior year internship to a full-time offer elsewhere post-graduation? I know that a lot of it hinges on my ability to network, but was wondering what your thoughts were. Thanks in advance.
You could try to move to another healthcare group at another bank if you like that, or just go to another group altogether. No one can tell your chances, just network hard and you'll probably be able to go somewhere else.
Good luck!
UBS healthcare used to be amazing, but after dozens of its bankers left last year, what's left in the group? I think ALL the MD's went off to JEFF.
Definitely take this position and be thankful if you're a senior and still do not have a full time job. You should consider yourself lucky, work your ass off and get a FT offer
People like you are why UBS is turning into shit.
People like you = WSO turning into shit
UBS is a piece of shit compared to other banks out there. get out as soon as possible
Thanks to those of you who offered actual insights. I know there's a lot of contention regarding UBS and its status as a BB, but have heard that it is still good experience. Considering that this is just for SA, my only concern is being able to recruit for FT given that I will have already graduated. Healthcare is one of those question marks in terms of deal flow and responsibility - lots of uncertainty after Lorello took his team to Jefferies.
does this particular HC group have a chip on its back after Lorello left. are you allowed to whisper his name or only refer to him as You-Know-Who since everyone knows that he scalped this group badly?
